.3rd Week Match Preview.

Copa Cobana VS De' Knights

It has been confirmed that Nabil has left the Copa ship, will this be the chance for perennial sub Hadiey to finally shine on the big stage? A fine passer of the ball, watch his left foot for more of his predatory instincts. DK's ego smacked down by the roaring Chittapa boys last week. Though with Arasan's firepower and maturity of Sam and Damo, expect them to bounce back strongly.

Bukit Tinggi VS Akula

Akula's players sure took a battering after two straight weeks of defeats, leaving them in the bottom 4. With the return of Azzam and Nasri, they will be able to mount a stronger challenge this time around, helped by Seth and AL. Having been taught a tough lesson by DNC last week, BT looked likely to put the nightmare behind and dust themselves off right away. Both teams looked equal on paper.

Boogies VS Gastroboi

With the addition of Copa's Nabil, the Gastros have much more firepower up front, and looked like the only team with 2 able players in any kind of position, such is their strength in depth. Though this doesn't necessarily mean that they are title contenders. Boogies looked rusty for the past 2 games, but never count them out,as they are the comeback specialists. And with 2 wins in hand already, this is a title-winning form.

Le' Samba VS Spartans

Rumors has it that the Samba guys practices futsal almost every week to gain more teamwork and organization. Not surprising, since their passing game has improved a lot, but they need more focus at the back. With 2 losses already, this is a must win game for their moral boost. Spartans yet unbeaten, but the draw specialists desperately need a win to gain much respect from other teams. Will their unbeaten run end? Or will they finally get that much-wanted 3 points?

Geng Malaysia VS Saints FC

GM has been desperately unlucky to lose both their earlier games, as they have shown that they have enough gas in the tank to kill off games, but unfortunately they lost that extra magic touch. Apparently Toh has been taking all Saints' free kicks and penalty kicks because he has yet to score any goal in an official tournament, the unlucky bloke. Maybe he'll be able to break his duck this time around. Saints now looking dangerous game after game.

Dru N' Cos VS Chittapa FC

Chittapa finally got back to their winning ways with a hard fought battle against De' Knights last time around. Rumors has it that they were able to finally find that elusive able goalkeeper,so no more goalkeeper rotating after this perhaps. DNC now on cloud 9 after two consecutive big margin wins. The table topping challengers yet to be crowned king of the crop, but in the tough and battle-hardy Chittapa, there might be a slight stone in a shoe for them (everyone hates it when that happens =p). No more goals galore this time perhaps?

.RFL Week 2 Review.

1. bukit tinggi 0-7 dru n cos (Avinesh 8',11',18',Yumnesh.J 8',Thiva 11',Lavan 12',16')

This was always going to be a one sided affair. Even DNC keeper Rajdave had a shot at the goal. Though in the early stages, BT keeper Timmy comfortably saved most of the shots, but that was only when DNC got stuck in the 2nd gear. The physical superiority of DNC was for all to see. At some times, BT had their lucky break but striker Yan just couldn't get that crucial last touch. BT defended admirably, but resilience proved futile. First blood went to Avi, when he responded well with Rajdave's long throw from the back. Nobody stopped Yumnesh when he blasted his first RFL goal of the season afterward. Bond and Aiman took to the court for the first time in the second half, and they were introduced to a reality check. The ever lively Yumnesh monkeyed his way through the whole BT defense and made the goalscoring opportunity easier for captain Thiva to tap in. Avi and Lavan then scored for quick succession, and for BT, this was a harsh lesson to take. DNC took advantage of their abilities well when Lavan and Yumnesh blasted shots after shots to the chagrin of BT keeper Timmy. Mate and Anol's defense just couldn't cope with the unpredictability of DNC's moves. Bukit Tinggi brought back down to earth. Dru N Cos bulldozing their way to the top of the league with another confident win.

2. le samba 0-2 copa cobana (Shafiq 15', Nabil 18')

It seems that Samba intended to take advantage of Copa's reportedly bout of instability, although in the end, Copa showed nothing of the latter. This time Copa's Boo played without wearing the goalie's gloves, which he claims was the source of his butterfingers act last time around. Khir Rezza was active in his role as the sole striker up front, at times bringing havoc to Copa's defense, although they stood firm in his path. Hard man Magesh patrolled Samba's defense, together with newbie Lingesh. There were nice one-two passes between Alep and Nabil, with Shazli ever lurking for that crucial spilled shots. Boo with his rock star voice growled at his defense for more focus, while his opposite foe Min Jie just doing his job with an air of calmness. Samba's Vickz added some pace to their attack, though it proved fruitless. Substitute Hadiey got into some action, but wasn't given enough time to give much impact. A classic Shafiq bazooka shot went flying at the goal post, with the rebound hitting Min Jie, but he got luck on his side, and he recovered well. After some time, the Samba guys lost focus, when captain Shazli burst through the defense and his rebounded shot got to the feet of the calm and collected Shafiq, with his first goal of the campaign. Another lapse of concentration was punished by Copa's Nabil with him scoring the second goal. Samba lost a bit of that attacking magic. Copa back on track.

3. chittapa (Brahma 13') 1-0 de knights

High flying Knights were looking at another potential 3 points in this game. Chittapa, with the ever reliable captain Arulkanesh meanwhile,is hellbent on getting as much out of this game as possible. It was a feisty affair at first, with the goalkeeper rotating policy adopted by Chittapa to provide some fairness perhaps. Arulkanesh was neat and clean at the back, and the tricks played at the front by Brahma proved a nuisance to Knights' defense. A rash mistimed challenge on Brahma by Lawrence warranted him a yellow card. Another yellow card was brandished by referee Lavan to Chittapa's Ganeson for a similar type of challenge, with the chants of "Beckham,Beckham!" roaring through the arena, perhaps expecting Lawrence for another set piece magic. In comes Updesh for Chittapa and the flying Singh provided some width and flair with his dribbling skills. From a smart move from Arul the keeper went all out for the ball, only for the shot to spill and in comes Brahma scoring the goal with the tightest of angle. Chittapa looked dangerous every time they had possession of the ball, Updesh could have kill the game off but instead he blasted the ball way up, wasting a smart pass off Brahma. Chittapa looking more confident game after game. Knights were second best throughout the game.

4. akula (Qye OG 15') 1-3 gastroboi (Dinie 10', Nfizree 13', Qye 13')

After demoralizing defeats in the previous week, both teams came in the pitch with a driving force to win. Gastroboi still with the same set of players, Akula with Nasri sitting out of the game,Azzam still unavailable due to a recurring sakit lutut injury (although he did brought his pair of futsal shoes =p) and debut of new goalkeeper Nazmi, with an odd pair of winter gloves...Gastroboi who lost 2-1 to Bukit Tinggi came in with firm determination while Akula after a devastating loss to Dru N Cos were eager to prove their worth. The match started off well with both teams having equal opportunities to score but none stood up to provide a finisher. At times Gastro's defense were stretched by the range of passing by Azwani plus Seth's and AL's eagerness. The first half ended unfruitful. In the beginning of the second half, a perfectly executed corner kick taken by Qye reached Dinie who had the simplest of job of finding the net. The highly stoned Gastroboi didnt take long to score another 2 goals with a powerful effort from crouchie striker Nfizree and star player Qye. Akula, determined not to be bullied into again, fought back with some strong performances by RFL boss AL, Azwani and the entertaining Palong. However, the defense of Gastroboi now led by the hard-as-rock Fareez and Mok stood firm in their track. Things were going ok for the pink boys until Qye screwed up and scored an own goal off a cross by AL. Amazing stuff from the captain. Akula sharkies sent off to space by the no-nonsense Gastroboi.

5. geng malaysia (Afiq 15') 1-2 boogis (Riz 1',16')

This game just didn't live up to its expectations. Both teams seemed to lack venom in their attacks. Nonetheless, we did see a couple of goals that night. Boogis seemed to have the upper hand that night. Having seen most of the ball they did create an array of chances only to be denied most of the time. Boogis's Riz placed his name on the score sheet early with a beautifully executed drive from just outside the D leaving Pok We in a daze. GM did try to find the back of the net only to be denied by the hulking pair of Dalvin and Aman. Those two were rock solid that night, salvaging Boogis all 3 points in the end. The attacking pair of Afiq and Awe just couldn't find that extra edge to pass these two gargantuans. In the second half, GM's goal assassin Afiq managed to level the scores and from this point onwards, GM started coming forward with yellow waves of attacks. Unfortunately, like a guy slipping on a banana skin, they slipped away and allowed a Boogis counter attack, culminating in again Riz to score, elegantly chipping the ball over the hapless Pok We. Boogis made hard work for themselves in this game. GM's dark horses title slowly fading away from them.

6. saints 0-0 spartans

Highly confident Saints and Spartans clashed in the battle of crucial points seeking between the two potential mid table teams. Saints had improved a lot since their FCUKing days and now with captain Toh's ability to scout and persuading potential footballers, they look different than the past 2 seasons. Rookies Spartans, also rejuvenated from their cult Spartak Volgina days, with the surviving Wee Kee and Kumar, proved a team hard to beat. The pace and hard work of Saints pair Agni and Prem causes a bit of a problem to Spartans. Toh produced a smart save from a fantastic chance presented to Spartans' Kumar. A push at the back to Saints' striker presented a glorious chance to Saints with a penalty kick. There were some chants from the supporters for Toh not to take the kick, due to his not-so-good record in set pieces but he stepped up and took the responsibility though in the end Spartans keeper Faizal blocked his weak spot kick. Most of the threats were coming from Saints but goalie Faizal was equal to every shot. The game ended 0-0 and it was a fair result for both teams. Saints still unbeaten, and Toh still keeping the 100% clean sheet record of this season, shared together with DNC's Rajdave. Will he be the other Dinie? Or is it just another flash in the pan? Superb play from both teams. Saints are in the top 4. Spartans meanwhile makes the transition into RFL like a fish into water.
